Rihanna
The Barbadian-born pop star Robyn Rihanna Fenty, known simply as Rihanna, has become a major force in music and style over the past decade. Rihanna’s recordings blend her early influences of reggae and other Caribbean music with American hip-hop, dance, and rhythm-and-blues; that blend has proven irresistible in hits like “Pon de Replay,” “Umbrella,” and “We Found Love.” Rihanna has also attracted constant attention for her sultry beauty, her often outrageous fashion sense, and her volatile, on-and-off romance with R&B performer Chris Brown.
Rihanna’s perfume line, manufactured under licensing arrangements with the international beauty brand Parlux, has given “RiRi” an additional way to share her image with fans (and fragrance lovers). Her debut scent, Reb’l Fleur, was released in 2010. Its name drew on the memory of Rihanna’s grandmother calling her a “Rebel Flower,” and the bottle was inspired by the shape of a shoe’s stiletto heel. Reb’l Fleur was followed by Rebelle, Nude, and Rogue, as well as the flanker Rogue Love. Many of these fragrances feature tropical fruits and flowers that pay tribute to Rihanna’s Caribbean background, as well as sexy “skin” notes. The collection also offers Rogue Man, a masculine fragrance.
