Geoffrey Beene
In 1963, Geoffrey Beene started his own company, Geoffrey Beene Inc., and was quickly dressing celebrities and influencers like Nancy Reagan, Lady Bird Johnson, Pat Nixon, Glenn Close and Faye Dunaway. Today, his fashion empire consists of men’s ready-to-wear, men’s and women’s accessories and fragrance. Launched in 1975, Grey Flannel was Beene’s entry into the fragrance world. It fast became one of his biggest successes and the winner of the 1976 FiFi Award for Men’s Fragrance of the Year Luxe brand. Grey Flannel was soon followed by Bowling Green, Chance (for women) Eau de Grey Flannel and Geoffrey Beene, all owned by parent company Elizabeth Arden, Inc.
